The Bandstra Group of Companies (“Bandstra Group”) has been acquired by Mullen Group Ltd. (“Mullen Group”) (“TSX: MTL”).

Founded over 65 years ago, the Bandstra Group is a family owned, diversified transportation and logistics services provider in British Columbia. The Bandstra Group employs over 400 British Columbia residents through its two primary operating businesses; Bandstra Transportation Systems Ltd. (“BTSL”) and Babine Truck & Equipment Ltd. (“Babine”).

BTSL is based in Smithers, British Columbia and provides truckload, general freight, less-than-truckloads, and specialized hauling services primarily to communities in northern British Columbia. Babine is an Original Equipment Manufacturer (“OEM”) dealership that operates from three British Columbia locations sited in Smithers, Prince George and Prince Rupert.

The Mullen Group is a publicly traded company and one of Canada’s largest logistics providers with a long history in acquiring family-owned businesses. BTSL will operate within the Mullen Group’s Logistics & Warehousing segment, whereas Babine will operate within the Specialized Service & Industrial Services segment.

“I firmly believe the transportation and logistics sector of the economy is being transformed by the digital revolution and the emergence of e-commerce as a dominant trend in the retail space. The acquisition of the Bandstra Group will enhance the service capabilities of our organization on the west coast and ensure we can compete with any transportation provider.” said Mr. Murray K. Mullen, Chairman and CEO of the Mullen Group.
